# Connect your POS

> Add Toast, Square, or Chowbus so data starts syncing.

Nothing in Garde works without POS data. Sales, labor, channels, food cost math: all of it starts from the register. Do this first, on day one.

## Before you start

Have ready:

* Your POS admin login (the account that owns the POS, not a manager passcode).
* For Toast: the POS passcode. The setup flow asks for it.
* One connection per location. Multi-unit? Repeat per store.

## Connect it

1. Sign in to the dashboard at [app.munchinsights.com](https://app.munchinsights.com).
2. Open the POS setup flow.
3. Pick your system: **Toast**, **Square**, or **Chowbus**.
4. Sign in with your POS credentials and grant access.
5. Wait for the first sync.

## What syncs

* **Menu**: items, groups, modifiers, discounts.
* **Orders and sales**: every closed check, split by channel.
* **Labor**: shifts and hours.

See [POS integrations](/platform/pos-integrations) for the full picture.

## The first sync

The first sync pulls your history, so it takes longer than you'd expect. Hours, not minutes. Don't panic when yesterday's numbers show up before last year's.

Check back the next morning. If sales still look empty after a day, email [support@munchinsights.com](mailto:support@munchinsights.com).

## Know-how

* Connect with the POS **owner** account. A manager-level login can connect and then silently lose permissions later.
* After the sync, spot-check one day: pick yesterday, compare net sales here vs. the POS report. Same date range, same location. Match once and you can trust it.
* Change POS providers later? Connect the new one; history from the old connection stays.
