Once you have created your commissary products, the next step is to set up an order guide so your receiving locations know what is available to order. Order guides can contain both inventory items and prepped items, giving you full flexibility over what your locations can request.
Keep your order guides up to date as your menus change. When you add new commissary recipes or retire old ones, update the order guide promptly. Outdated order guides lead to confusion — receiving units may try to order items that are no longer available, or miss new products you have added.
The Order Guides Page
Navigate to Commissary > Order Guides from the sidebar. You will see the Order Guides page with the subtitle “Create and manage order guides for your restaurants.”
To create a new guide, click the + New Guide button in the top right corner. If you already have guides set up, use the dropdown at the top to select an existing order guide by name (for example, “Ice Cream”).
Each order guide displays the following summary information:
- Name — the guide’s display name
- Description — a short summary of what the guide contains
- Ordering Locations — the number of locations that can order from this guide
- Total Items — how many items are included in the guide
- Last Updated — the date the guide was most recently modified
Below the summary, you will see a list of the ordering locations assigned to this guide, shown by name. Click the Edit Settings button to change the guide’s name, description, or assigned locations.
Order Guide Items
Each guide includes an Order Guide Items section with the subtitle “Inventory items and prepped items available on this order guide.” This is where you manage the specific products your locations can order.
At the top of this section you will find:
- A search bar to quickly find items within the guide
- Enable and Disable buttons to activate or deactivate items in bulk
- A + Add Order Guide Item button to add new items to the guide
The items table displays the following columns:

| Item | The name of the inventory item or prepped item |
| Type | Whether it is an Inventory Item or another item type |
| Selling Packaging | The unit of measure used when locations place orders |
| Raw Cost | The current cost of the item based on your purchases |
| Selling Price | The price charged to ordering locations |
| Base Price Override | An optional override for the base price |
| Markup | The markup percentage applied to the item |
Adding Items to the Guide
- Click the + Add Order Guide Item button at the top of the Order Guide Items section.
- Search for the inventory item or prepped item you want to add.
- Configure the selling packaging, pricing, and any markup as needed.
- Click Save when finished. Continue adding as many items as needed.
Editing Guide Settings
Click the Edit Settings button on any guide to update its name, description, or the list of ordering locations that have access to it. You can add or remove locations at any time without affecting the items already on the guide.
