How to Create a Custom Count-by Unit of Measure
Set up custom count-by units in Garde so your inventory counts and recipes reflect how your team actually works.
Sometimes the default units don’t match how you actually count things. Maybe you buy sirloin steaks individually but your vendor prices them by the ounce. Or you get sheet pans of pre-portioned desserts and want to count by the pan instead of each piece. Custom count-by units let you bridge that gap so inventory counts stay fast and accurate.
Here’s a common example: you buy “Beef, Sirloin 12 oz” steaks. Your team counts them one at a time on the shelf, but the vendor sells by the ounce. You’d create a custom count-by unit called “Each” that equals 12 ounces — so when someone counts 5 steaks, Garde knows that’s 60 oz.
