The PnL Release feature in Garde gives you a structured workflow for reviewing and finalizing your Profit & Loss statement before sharing it with stakeholders.

How It Works

PnL Release adds a review step to your financial reporting process. Instead of your P&L data being immediately visible to all users, you can review it first, make any necessary adjustments, and then “release” it when you’re confident the numbers are accurate.

Steps to Release Your P&L

  1. Navigate to Performance > Controllable P&L in Garde.
  2. Select the period you want to review.
  3. Review your revenue, costs, and expenses. Check that:
    • All invoices for the period have been processed
    • Inventory has been posted
    • Sales data is complete
    • Categories and mappings look correct
  4. Once you’re satisfied, click Release to make the P&L available to your team.

Why Use PnL Release?

  • Accuracy — Catch errors or missing data before your team sees the numbers.
  • Confidence — Know that the P&L your team is reviewing has been validated.
  • Control — Manage when financial data becomes visible to different user roles.
  • Consistency — Establish a regular cadence for P&L review and release.

Best Practices

  • Set a regular schedule for P&L review (e.g., weekly or at the close of each accounting period).
  • Use the review step to verify that all invoices have been uploaded and processed.
  • Coordinate with your accounting team so exports happen after release.
